James Knight

James Knight is a jack-of-all-trades storyteller. During a 30-year media career, he has worked as a television and radio reporter, newspaper journalist, features writer, columnist, documentary maker, and sports commentator. He has also written twelve non-fiction books with subjects spanning: social issues, Australian history, travel, cricket, and human-interest biographies. His latest book, to be released in 2019, is about a maverick youth worker and disengaged youth in a country town.

James is passionate about bringing the processes of storytelling to all audiences from years 5 through to 12. A bush boy (raised in Gunnedah), and an intrepid traveller, he brings unique observations to his workshops and presentations. He has also developed a program ‘Story-Think-Story-Connect’ that is based around collaborative storytelling, which encourages students and adults alike to open up and share their stories. James is also a mad marathon runner and an ambassador for the international charity, Room To Read. He will travel anywhere to have a yarn.
