Charmaine Ledden-Lewis

Charmaine is a self-taught artist, and descendant of the Bundjalung People, residing with her husband and two sons in the idyllic Blue Mountains. Raised in a loving family, surrounded by art and music, Charmaine developed a passion for all things creative from an early age (completing her very first book illustrations during preschool!), and strives to encourage creativity, compassion and empathy in everyone she meets.

Winner of the 2019 Kestin Award, Charmaine’s first children’s picture book, Found, was a collaboration with her personal hero, Bruce Pascoe, and explores themes and perspectives concerning the Stolen Generations, of which Charmaine is a living legacy. She has also illustrated the picture book edition of Cathy Freeman’s Born to Run and Edith Wright’s Charlie’s Swim.
